Xbox One and PS4 might have competition with a new console being announced and shown in CES 2014. The company Valve commonly known for creating steam which manages and distributes thousands of games to their online users have made a prototype console, this will be able to play all of steam’s titles in full 1080HD running at 60FPS.
The steam box will be unveiled some point next year and was rumoured to be costing $1000 it has since changed and has now went down to a much more manageable $500, the Steam Box will be running Steam OS and unlike previous consoles the Steam Box is completely upgradeable. If you want to change your CPU or hard drive etc... you can simply replace it with a new model, Valve have obviously put a lot of thought into this console and are trying to change the way pc gamers play by bringing back a controller rather than using a keyboard while keeping the flexibility of being able to interchange parts.
The new console will also have a dedicated controller which has a new innovative design which is said to try and deliver the same precision as a computer mouse.
Not much has been released on this machine, so there are currently no set designs for the console and all are prototypes at the moment with 300 being shipped for free to Valve users to to test the system.
