Dec 2013
Here is a quick guide to the new features found on Propellerheads latest addition to the reason family Reason 7.
Reason 7 was released on the 20th of May 2013 it is a direct upgrade from Reason 6.5, the main difference between the two are the new features which have come with the upgrade these include:
Being able to group instruments together
This in previous versions meant going to the back of the rack and manually routing all the instruments to a spider audio and send the output to an audio track, however with Reason 7 you can now set up groups and make parallel channels with ease.
You can now use your own hardware synthesizers within Reason 7 and you can also automate them which previous versions were incapable of.
Since the merge with record, Reason 7 has been recognised as a true DAW which can process audio, this only adds to that and allows you to edit audio a lot quicker and easier by doing the slicing already.
This has been sought out for a long time now, many DAW’s have had this implemented for years, Reason finally introduced it I the new Reason 7.
This upgrade was not a big difference from the old Reason 6 unlike the transition from Reason 5 to 6 (which is a huge change) but the small implementations allow for the users workflow to not be delayed trying to find that annoying frequency(spectrum analyser) or trying to cut up an audio file.
The overall set up of Reason 7 has become more refined and as a result your workflow is increased with simple things like being able to group tracks together with a simple right click, these features are what makes reason a powerful and innovative DAW.
